VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:  KIMMIE AND TRACY OLIVER

We’re Kimmie and Tracy Oliver, who along with our furry crew members TiKi (dog) and Charlie (cat) spend, since 2020,  7 months a year sailing aboard our Lagoon 46, GypSea and the balance in our home in Virginia Beach.  Our travels have taken us from Maine to Cape Town South Africa and most places in between.  We’ve participated in many Salty Dawg rallies, including the Downeast, Bahamas and multiple Caribbean rallies.  This year Kimmie and I completed the Caribbean rally double handed, our longest with just the two of us to date.

We especially enjoy the rendezvous format whether it is in Dominica, BVI or the Exumas, where we are just now finishing up the Exumas Rendezvous as its captains.  It was so much fun with everyone pitching in to help and coming together for daily activities, Annie’s morning Somatic Breathing sessions, games of Kimmie’s creation and finally sundowners!  We seemed to always attract the attention of other cruisers, who we gladly invited to join in and who never failed to show interest in the Salty Dawgs organization.

Since our first rally, we have always enjoyed the support and camaraderie that we find in the Salty Dawgs and I can honestly say, that it has improved every year since we first joined.  This doesn’t happen by itself and much is owed to those past and present who make this possible.  We are glad that we were able to help out in some small way.  The rewards far exceeded any toil and the friendships will be forever.
