VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:  MARK BUCKLEY

Boat Name and Type: Irish Rover is a 2012 Fontaine Pagot Lipari that Mark and Margee have been sailing since her delivery from the factory in France

Home Port:  Sea Girt, New Jersey

This fall, I delivered Irish Rover to Great Exuma, Bahamas, as a participant in the 2025 Salty Dawg Caribbean / Bahamas Rally,  Returned home to NJ in late November to enjoy the holidays with my big family.

We've been participating in Salty Dawgs Rallies for years.  2024 was the first year where I agreed to step up and give back as the Bahamas Bound Fleet Captain.  I see my role as an advocate and facilitator for the Bahamas fleet.  We are so fortunate to have experienced captains participating in the rally.  I try to bring that collective knowledge together and share it, especially with the newer, less seasoned captains and crew.

We're heading back to Irish Rover at the end of January, where we plan on catching up with our fellow Bahamas Dawgs and enjoying all the beauty and adventure these islands offer.  Spring time will trigger our return to the Northern Chesapeake Bay.

When we aren't sailing, you would find us biking, hiking, backpacking and traveling.
