Evening dinners, marina fees, and mooring fees will be paid directly by participants.  Rally fees include weather forecasting and routing by the Marine Weather Center, SDSA Shoreside Support, a Rally Flag, and more.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE RALLY

  • Participation with a great group of sailors, with all of the teamwork, camaraderie, fun and lasting friendships that go along with every Salty Dawg Rally.
  • Our Salty Dawg Pre-Offshore Checklist for captains to check that they and their vessel are ready for the passage.
  • Access to a Salty Dawg library of offshore preparation reference material by Salty Dawg World Class sailors, and other recognized experts.
  • Access to the Salty Dawg Crew List service to identify potential crew members.
  • VHF radio net to to keep this group of sailors connected.
  • Satellite communications or SSB to stay connected and informed with The Marine Weather Center and the SSC team.
  • Webcast weather briefings and routing suggestions by Chris Parker of the Marine Weather Center prior to departure.
  • Daily offshore professional weather updates and routing update recommendations via email and SSB from Chris Parker.
  • Input from experienced Salty Dawgs and the Fleet Captain on their offshore strategy and pre-departure advice, given the weather forecast.
  • Daily position reports of all vessels providing position reporting is available while offshore via Predict Wind Offshore App.
  • The SDSA Shoreside Coordinator (SSC) team on duty, monitoring the fleet, addressing questions from the fleet, and able to relay messages from family.
  • The SDSA Emergency Response Team (ERT) on duty to assist Captains that may be experiencing problems at sea.
  • An official 24 inch X 36 inch SDSA Rally Flag.
  • Access to a broad array of SDSA Member-Only benefits.

The Salty Dawg Sailing Association (SDSA) mission is to educate sailors, build camaraderie, and facilitate offshore passages. Our goal is to conduct quality rallies with the flexibility that allows each Captain to make informed decisions, and provide all participants the best possible experience at the lowest cost. Our Refund Policy reflects this position.

RALLY REFUND POLICY:

If you register for a Salty Dawg Rally and must cancel your registration, refunds will be issued as follows:

  • A refund of rally fees, less $25.00 is available if you cancel more than four weeks before the scheduled rally departure date. 
  • A partial refund of 50% of paid fees is available if you cancel between two and four weeks prior to the scheduled departure date.
  • Within two weeks of the scheduled departure, refunds are not available. You may be able to consider the unrefunded fees as a donation to the SDSA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. (Please check with your tax advisor to confirm your ability to take a tax deduction).
  • If entry into a country is not permitted due to Covid or other reasons, or the rally is cancelled, the rally fee will be refunded in total.

Exceptions due to unusual circumstances will always be considered.
