VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:  ALLEN ROBERTS, GEMEAUX

Boat Name: Gemeaux, Fountaine Pajot Helia 44', San Francisco, Ca

Where are you now?  Currently in the Bahamas

How long have you been a volunteer for the Salty Dawgs? 6 years

How do you volunteer:  My volunteer efforts have been mostly to help out where needed. I have been Tim Metcalf's (Diirector of Communications and Safety) helper on the rally tracking and comms for several years; Rally Leader for the fall rally to the Bahamas in 2020 and 2021; coordinated pets for the fall rally in 2019, 2020, and 2021; became a board member in 2021, Treasurer in 2022; worked on developing better tracking solutions for the rallies and the member map in 2023, and helped on the App development in 2024.  I have been Bob Osborn's (Azores Rally Leader) helper on the Azores Rally as I had experience of doing that passage to the Azores in 2022.

Why do you volunteer for the Dawgs?  I volunteer because I really believe in the mission of sailors helping sailors and to help others have the same great experience with the Salty Dawgs that I have had.

What are your plans for the next year?  After 9 years and over 50k miles on the boat, we expect to wrap up our sailing this year. We plan to sail from the Bahamas to the Chesapeake and begin our transition back to land.
