VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: LYNN HOENKE
Home Port: Traverse City, Michigan Years volunteering for the Salty Dawgs: Eight years How do you volunteer for the Salty Dawgs? I believe that I have created the position of Social Coordinator for the Dawgs. For the past 4 years Mark and I have welcomed the Caribbean Rally boats to Antigua. I have also been the liaison and coordinator of arrival events and activities while Mark leads walks and hikes into the mountains and hills. I have also worked on Rendezvous in Dominica and Bequia. Before 2020 we were involved in various events and activities. I serve on the Board of Directors and have been, at various times, the person in charge of social media and website maintenance. Why do you volunteer for the Dawgs? Without the Salty Dawgs our cruising life would have ended before it began. We were ready to sell the boat and just return to work-life when the Caribbean Rally opened the door to the wonderful life we lived for the past eight years. We want to help other people to have the great times, meet the wonderful people, and see the amazing things that we have. I believe it's called "pay it forward". What are you up to now? Roxy is for sale in Maryland. We are planning to meet the fleet in Antigua (from someone else's boat) and to party with them, Beyond that, we are moving into our new house near our youngest daughter and her family. Other hobbies/interests: I am looking forward to weekly mah jongg games and doing a little gardening.
