MEET THE DAWGS: Kate and Bill Jones: SV CARRIED AWAY Boat Length and Type: Leopard Catamaran Sailing Version 48' Home Port: Marblehead, Massachusetts Where are you now?: Marblehead, preparing to go south When did you get involved with the Salty Dawgs? 2023 Which rallies or rendezvous have you joined? Annapolis and Caribbean Rally in 2023. Planning to attend the Annapolis rendezvous in October and then join the Caribbean rally from Hampton. One challenge is that we have a family wedding back in the States on November 15 - so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we aren't delayed as it will be a quick turnaround to fly back to the States from Antigua! Most memorable Salty Dawgs moment: Arriving into Falmouth Harbor at 11pm, following Pandora into the harbor - after 11 days at sea - an out of body experience of exhaustion and joy! What have you gained from being part of the Salty Dawgs: Too many things to list! But we love the experience and expertise of other Salty Dawgs and their willingness to help out in so many situations (with so many questions!) - the great social aspect of joining up with other Dawgs throughout the season - and all the other resources we gain by being part of the Dawgs Any major boat projects currently underway? We did quite a few projects this year. We found we were on such a schedule last year that we never stayed anywhere long enough to get stuff done, so we have done a good amount at home: new cockpit enclosure, wash-down pump, updating several systems, adding a shelf for organization in the galley - all small but fun projects! What are your plans for the next year or so? We will be leaving Marblehead around 9/27 and cruising down the East Coast (Newport, NYC, NJ shore to Cape May - then up the Delaware and around into the Chesapeake to meet the Dawgs in Annapolis on 10/10. |
